The piece

Verso Libre is a flamenco happening by dancer María Moreno, with Raúl Cantizano on guitar and samplers and Manuel Masaedo on percussion.

At the 2024 Biennial it was presented in two performances at the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo, in the Monasterio de la Cartuja.

The space

The piece was conceived as an itinerary through several spaces of the monastery: the Arab courtyard, a garden with a pergola and the large central courtyard. The audience moved with the performers from one to the next.

The itinerary ended in a square with a stage, where the piece closed.

Listening

There were no speakers. The dance, the guitar and the percussion reached each listener through wireless headphones, also while walking. The mix was the same for everyone. Each person chose the level they listened at with the volume control on their own headset.

Two years later, the Biennial again used wireless headphones for Caminero Flamenco Trilogy.
